Some comments about George.
If my memory serves me, George Heitman ran the GEAR Rally and High Point events in the 1980's . He also road Spring Fling in Maryland rooming with Harry Peckham. The story goes that George abandoned Harry for Karen who he ultimately married. RIP George!
My initial meeting with George would take too long to go into here but am forever grateful to him for all you wonderful people I have met as a result!

George Heitman was the first cyclist I encountered before the HBC was created. It’s a long story but he welcomed me to join the informal group in 1980. He was a founding member of the club. We rode together for many years. He was a Prince among men.
